You can adjust the double-click speed of the mouse to make it respond faster or slower to meet your accessibility needs. This procedure tells you how to adjust the double-click speed of the mouse through Mouse Properties in Control Panel .

Using your Mouse

On your Start menu, open your Control Panel.

When you are in your Control Panel, make certain you have "Use Classic View" selected on the left side of the screen so that all your Control Panel icons can be seen.

Open the Mouse Control Panel.

In the Mouse Properties dialog box, on the Buttons tab, under Double–click speed:

Select the double–click speed you want by moving the Speed slider arrow left for slower and right for faster.

Select OK.

Close any open windows.

Using your Keyboard

Display the Start menu by pressing CTRL+ESC (or the Windows logo key).

Select Control Panel by pressing C.

When you are in your Control Panel, make certain you have "Use Classic View" selected on the left side of the screen so that all your Control Panel icons can be seen. If not, under Control Panel in the left pane, select Switch to Classic View by pressing TAB and press Enter.

Move to Mouse by pressing the arrow keys and pressing the Enter key when Mouse is highlighted.

In the Mouse Properties dialog box, on the Buttons tab, under Double–click speed (you can move between tabs by holding down the CTRL key and tapping the TAB key until the desired tab is selected, release the CTRL key when the desired tab is selected.)

Move to the Speed slider by pressing D.

Select the speed you want by moving the slider arrow with the RIGHT ARROW and LEFT ARROW.

Select OK.

Close any open windows.
